The Fakeer Of Jungheera

The Fakeer Of JungheeraImage result for the fakeer of jungheera

Derozio was an indian poet and assianst  headmaster of hindu collage Kolkata a radical thinker and the first indian educators to disseminate western learning science among the young men of Bengal.
Henry Derozio wrote wonderful poems in english ‘the Fakeer of Jungheera’ the poem is one of the most significant landmark in the history of patriotic poetry in india. The poem write in this days Bengal faced many problems of caste and creed. In the poem ‘ the Fakeer of Jungheera’ Derozio mixed the tantric , hindu, mythological, Islamic and Christian tradition. Henry Derozio got the idea about writing the poem of spiritual love from baital pachisi. As the story goes, if king vikram remains steadfast in his love for his queen , he can resurrect her and once more both can find happiness together.
Here, we can also compare the fakeer and naleeni are star crossed lovers like Romeo and Juliet. The poem ‘ The Fakeer of Jungheera’ fakeer is the followers of Islam. Fakeer means saint a person who has renounced the world but here fakeer loves a lady naleeni . who is married and also an upper caste female . naleeni was married to a Brahmin man. Her husband dies in an early youth also naleeni the beloved of fakeer never loved her husband.
In the day of henry Derozio , indian subcontinent was caught by many evils like ‘sati-partha’ killing girl child by boiling the still born baby in the hot pot of milk etc,…….. naleeni belonged to a conservative hindu society in the 19th century naleeni was pure and beautiful she doesn’t want to end her life behind a person whom she never loved. Naleeni was brought to be the spot where her husband is to be cremated.
Naleeni loved the fakeer and society blamed her. So woman were singing song praising sati they sung of going to die on the funeral pure of her husband and escape with the bandit fakeer to his in Jungheera to a life from death. Naleeni escaped death but she stars a life of forbidden love though  frightened by violent social norms. She believes that her lover’s corrage and her unfailing love will finally make them victorious.
Henry Derozio sees love between a hindu and Muslim as transcending religious categories in colonial Bengal lays.
The end of the tragic love story naleeni dies with the person whom she loved. She became a free agent to choose her destiny . in ancient time in our country women were allowed to choose their life partner on their own. The secular and universal ideas that Derozio exposes in his poetry do not go well with the separatist and divisionary politics of modern india.
These are some of the revisionist , consequences of modernity however the model of social life that emerged in the early 19th century in response to modernity in india now take as beyond modernity into the information age.

Image result for once upon a time by gabriel okara

The poem “Once upon a time” written by Gabriel Okara . my short view about the poem here we may say that the poet indicates the father recognizes his younger self in his son also we can add some other point like the poet connect with Past and present , civilization , globalization connect global to global.
The opening of the poem father talking to his son father has come back to his past also poet use the simplicity of language , father reflect emotion to his eyes. Because society they gave artificial smile.
However, the new thing , new traditions comes in society . today life we can see how people live in new culture and new way. The native culture die and the birth of new culture also we can say that the people search for money they have to no hospitality .  it’s the tribal culture   and traditional culture people live in new culture their life in their own way.
Poet uses the poetic language like,
-         Faces
-         Dresses

Here, we can say that the faces like dresses . because daily we wear different  and multiple kind of dresses  and we change daily so, here people use the different and multiple kind of expression. People they no stability because different faces. In this poem poet also indicates the smile. Smile is not become a real smile is a portrait of smile. Now father learn the own laugh. When we say good bye but sometimes we don’t wish to come further or not. Here , poetic persona again going to his past.

At the end of the poem father  wish to come back to his past.  he wants to come back to his childhood.
Here, also we may say that poet wish to come back to his past and childhood.

At the last line,
“Once Upon Time When I Was Like You”

Pippa passes

             Pippa Passes

                       -     Robert Browning

The poem’ song form Pippa passes’ is a short lyric poem sung by a character in a verse play by Robert Browning this play, or dramatic poem is entitled Pippa passes.
The poem ‘Pippa Passes’ made by only eight line.

In these poem we can see Robert Browning put each line representing the some crisis of human life and the story about the one girl she is a fourteen years old-girl , her name was Pippa. who work woks in a silk mill. she was  sung song and her song says that everything is as it should be in the world of man and nature and that everything is full of promise. and also the human being believe in god so, god is watching over his creation also we can say that she is unconscious of the influence she exerts.

Isabella

                     Isabella

                                  - John Keats

The poem ‘ Isabella’ written by John Keats. In this Poem ‘Isabella’ is Something of an experiment for Keats and is mixture of tone poignant , romantic tragedy on the one hand a rather than dry, distanced narrative tone on the other  Isabella or the pot of Basil was one of the Keats’s early narrative poems written in 1818. The Poem Isabella is divided into four parts.
·      The Love of Lorenzo and Isabella .
·      The Murder of Lorenzo by her Brothers.
·      Isabella’s discovery of Lorenzo’s Body.
·      The Fight of the Brothers and Isabella’s death.

In this The Poem ‘ Isabella ’ the character of Boccaccio there is a narrator . Philomena where as in Keats the narrative voice is that of Poet Himself .Isabella was a Lady from messina who falls in love with Lorenzo. Lorenzo was an administrator of her Brother’s fortune .later on brother of Isabella decided that they learn about the meeting of the lovers. than at first they are silent to avoid scandal, but one day they invited Lorenzo to a festival outside the city and murdered him . but here we can see John Keats use the fall of Gothic excess and over traditional lamentation as when melancholy is apostrophized either to ‘linger here awhile’ or to ‘turn eyes away’.

It is Perhaps not surprising that Keats came to see the poem as ‘ mawkish’ and also we can say that the brother of Isabella murder by Lorenzo but Isabella they don’t know about the think and Isabella know that the Lorenzo had to make a long journey abroad. but month pass and he does not return. Isabella mourns and pines the departure of her lover. one day at  night as she lay exhausted and sleeping. suddenly Lorenzo’s ghost appeared before her and he was pale, blood-drabbled with garments rent mouldy. here, John Keats use great skill for the murder of Lorenzo.
“these men of cruel clay
cut mercy with a sharp knife to the bone;”

But not only describes the banishment of the brother’s natural pity, but also focuses our attention on the means of Lorenzo’s death. than Isabella know that everything and at the morning he told her of her brother’s deed and asked her to find his body where it lay. than Isabella finds the grounds, where Lorenzo had been murdered. she brings back his head and buries it in a pot of basil she tends to this obsessively, arousing the suspicious of her brothers. and one day they steal away the pot and Isabella is left alone to die in pain,  morning the death of her one true love.

"The Waste Land" by T.S.Eliot

The waste land poem here ,  T.S.Eliot talk about the western culture. His  location  and  nation by the western culture. The waste land is a collection of five poem divided into different parts. All the poem is archetype way also a poem made of collage of images.

1)   The Burial Of The Dead

Image result for wasteland by t.s.eliot                         In the first part "The Burial Of The dead" T.S.Eliot talk about the myth of Sibyl(sibyl is a waiting for death). Myth of Tristan and Isolde and Hyacinth girl ( German opera, it is the flower name. The love and death connected in the myth).  At last T.S.Eliot talk about the Unreal City: London bridge, death undone, etc.....

"Something different from either,

Your shadow at morning striding behind you,

Or Your shadow at evening to meet you,

He will show you fear in a Handful Dust"

T.S.Eliot talk about the Red Rock. Red Rock is symbol of christianity.here, I Put my view in single line

"I Will Shaw You , Who Are You in Right Now?"

The image of Madame Sosostris. She was a fashionable fortune teller. We can see in this image fond that the image of Christianity. The Christianity is connected with the city of London. London is the city of Christian. So I can connected the image of Madame Sosostris and city of London.

      2)  A Game Of Chess

Image result for waste land ny t.s.eliot a game of chess             The second part of "A Game Of Chess". A poem this section focuses on two opposing scenes , one of high society and one of the lower classes.

 3)   The Fire Sermon

Image result for wasteland by t.s.eliot the fire sermon          The poem 'The Fire sermon' we can say that the poem Boredom was one of the problam of waste land. The title of the poem 'The fire sermon' the sermon given by Buddha in which he encourage his fallowers to give up earthly passion ( passion is symbolized by fire) and seek freedom fr earthly thing. Also we can see in this poem there are many references like Bank of River, bank of Canal, Fisherking ( fisherking also suffering from bodies pain), Tiresias, a figure from classical mythology who has both male and female features.

" Old man with wrinkled female breasts"

And is blind but can see into the feature.

"Burning burning burning burning

O lord thou pluckest me out

O lord thou pluckest burning"

At last the section then comes to an abrupt end with a few line from St.Augustine's confessions and a vague references to the Buddha's fire sermon ( burning)

The poem's next section which will relate the story pf a death without resurrection exposes the absurdity of these two figures faith in external higher power that this section ends with only the single word 'burning' isolated on the page, reveals the futility of all of man's struggles.

4) Death by Water

Image result for waste land ny t.s.eliot death of water               The poem'Death by Water' it's creat a archytype image. The poem death by water describes a man phlebas the phoenician who has died apparently by droeining. In death he has forgotten his wordly cares as the creatures of the seen have picked his body apart.

The narrator asks his reader too consideref phlebes and recall his or her own morality. At last we can say that the poem reflect the Tragic water world.

5) What the Thunder Said

Image result for wasteland by t.s.eliot what the thunder said              We can say that the poem what the thunder said says as taken from the UPNISHAD (hindu fables). The poem reflect the Sirrealistic image. The image of Cock. Cock symbolise something bright in our life. Here, alsoEliot implies a path to regenerate the denizens of the waste land E.g what the thunder said.

Datta- Give

Dayadhvam-Sympathise

Damayata-Self-Control

Eliot bring togethere the wisdom of the east and west and shows that spiritual regeneration can come, if only we had the voice of the thunder.

The poem ends with a seies of disparate fragments from a children's song, from Dante and from Elizabethan drama leading up to a final chant of " Shantih Shantih Shantih" . The traditional ending to an Upnishad.
